Ra'eesah Ra'naa is an up and coming Middle Eastern "Belly" Dance artist located in Greenville, SC. She first discovered her love for Middle Eastern dance and music in 1995 while taking a belly dance class at a community college near her home in Hamburg, Germany. Touched by the hipnotic rhythms of the Tabla, the shimmering strings of the Qanoon, and the velvet voice of George Abdo, Ra'eesah soon found her passion in expressing herself through the soft, swaying movements of belly dance. Throughout her studies Ra'eesah has been touched and inspired by many Middle Eastern Dance artists such as: Nagwa Fouad, Suhaila & Jamila Salimpour, Fadjwa of Morocco/Florida, & Alima of GA, to name a few.
Ra'eesah is blossoming into a traditional, yet innovative belly dance artist. Her performances highlight her impeccable dance technique and natural grace and are topped off by her wide, joyous smile. Her versatility as a dancer allows her a wide performance range from the smooth Classical & Modern Egyptian style, to the cheeky Folkloric dances of North Africa, to the edgy Modern Fusion styles of American belly dance, to everything in between!
Ra'eesah is a faculty member at Tri-County Technical College & Clemson University where she currently teaches Egyptian style belly dance classes. Ra'eesah has also recently been authorized to teach Keti Sharif's "AstroBelly" system, an innovative way to learn improvisation using combinations based on the 12 signs of the Zodiac.
In addition, Ra'eesah is a member of the Suhaila Salimpour School of Dance and is working towards her Level II certification in the Suhaila Salimpour format.
Ra'eesah can been seen in performances in the Upstate of SC.
